EasyTech Curriculum

Anatomy of EasyTech Pre-Tests (Teacher View)

PreTestDo your students take online assessments, such as PARCC or Smarter Balanced? To help ensure that your students are as successful with online assessments as with pen and paper assessments, you can use EasyTech curriculum in a targeted way to prepare students for the assessments. These Pre-tests will determine gaps in skills needed for online assessments. EasyTech Pre-tests are 9-15 questions and consist of multiple choice and true/false questions. If the Pre-test has been completed within the Learning.com platform (and not a separate Learning Management System) students who miss two or more questions associated with a specific technical skill will be assigned a corresponding EasyTech Lesson to address that skill gap with further practice.

To learn more about how EasyTech can be used to prepare your students for online assessments, please see the resources here.

Points to note:

  • When assigning Pre-tests to a class that also has EasyTech Lessons assigned, ensure that the Lessons are not the same ones that the Pre-test prescribes
    • This will prevent students from completing the same Lessons multiple times
  • The Pre-tests are not designed as benchmark assessments; there is no corresponding Post-test

EasyTech Pre-tests can be searched for in the Learning.com Library with the other EasyTech content. To find them all, select the ‘Preparation for Online Assessments’ tiles within EasyTech. The Pre-tests are assigned in the same way as other curriculum items.

Find more information about assigning curriculum. Also, see how Pre-tests appear to students.

Once students complete a Pre-test, teachers will see the result in the gradebook as either a green check or a red circle. A green checkmark indicates a passing score. A red circle indicates a non-passing score. Students with red circles have Lessons assigned to them in their assignment list that they must complete with a minimum of 80% to receive a green checkmark; scores for the prescribed Lessons will not appear in your gradebook.

Note that prescribed Lessons must be passed with 80% or higher score, no matter how the minimum score is set in the class settings.

Selecting the green checkmark or red circle in the gradebook allows the teacher to view the details of how each student performed on the Pre-test. Clicking on the “score” will open a new window that is very similar to what students see when they take the Pre-test.

By selecting ‘Start,’ teachers can review both the answers students have submitted and the correct answer to each question. Students also see this information after submitting their Pre-tests.

Selecting ‘Progress’ shows teachers how students scored in each skill area and what Lessons, if any, have been prescribed.

If a student has already completed a Lesson from this list, that is indicated within this ‘Progress’ button. Teachers also can reset the Pre-test from this screen.

Selecting ‘Reset for Student’ will clear all data and answers provided by the student and re-open the Pre-test for the student. The student can then retake the Pre-test.

Teachers will know when students have successfully completed all prescribed work because the red circle will be replaced by a green checkmark in the gradebook.

EasyTech Pre-test Prescriptions

The following chart can help you decide which Pre-test to assign based on the Lessons it may prescribe.

Note: This resource describes the functionality of EasyTech Pre-tests when they are launched directly from the Learning.com platform. If your school or district uses a different Learning Management System such as Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom, the Pre-tests will provide a score to the gradebook and will not prescribe Lessons.
